These screenshots are of a Level Design project completed for the December 2021 Metroidvania Game Jam. 


The game is a 1P Metroid-style dungeon crawler, with moment-to-moment gameplay akin to classic arena hybrid shooters like Halo. Graphics were deliberately lo-fi and 'retro'. It runs on Unity. 


This project was accomplished by a 4-man team in one month. I took charge of the level design for the entire project. I created all of the level geometry, decorator assets, navmesh geo and materials in Blender. All 3D assets are original, all materials are generated from license-free images.


The world consists of a 3-part overworld connected in various ways to 5 dungeons:

Sewers -

Skyscraper -


Each dungeon features a soft-lock entrance, fully-fledged single player encounters, a boss arena, and a unique pickup / key, allowing progression to another specific dungeon.  Each dungeon exits to the Overworld in a diegetic fashion: soft-lock jumps, elevators, locked doors and drop-downs.
